Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify whether ethical value of nurses are deontological or utilitarian, and whether the tendency of clinical behavior that is recieved by nurses is deontolgical or utilitarian.
The data were obtained from the 145 nurses working at two hospitals located in An-dong city from Mar. 11th to Mar. 24th in 1992 by questionnaie of which content were ethical problems in clinical settings.
The analysis of data was done by frequency, Pearson¢¥s correlaton coefficient, t-test and ANOVA.
The results of this study were as follows
1. The ethical values of human life slightly took up deontological position.
2. The ethical values of nurse-patient relationships took up neutral position.
3. The ethical values of nurse-nursing task relationships slightly took up deontological position.
4. The ethical values of nurse-colleague relationships greatly took up deontological position.
5. Variables which were related with the ethical values were religion, a state of marriege, attending years, ethical standards and. post.
6. In the human life area, the tendency of clinical behavior that was recieved by nurses was deontological position.
7. In the nurse-patient relationship area, the tendency of clinical behavior that was recieved by nurses was almost neutral.
8. In the nures-nursing task relationship area, the tendency of clinical behavior that was recieved by nurses was almost neutral.
9. In the nurse-colleague relationship area, the tendency of clinical behavior that was recieved by nurses was deontological position.
10. There was significant difference between the ethical values of nurses and the tendency of clinical behavior.
